GRADE 5
For this term, the following students, Saira, Ali and Yusuf have recorded these reflections:
English
Figurative Language by Saira Juma
During English we have been learning about Figurative Language. Figurative language is language that has a different meaning from what it is literally saying: Here are some of my examples that I wanted to share with you all, hope you like them.
Onomatopoeia: Swoosh! BAM! Bang!
Idiom: Will you give me a hand for a minute?
Simile: She was as fast as a cheetah.
Personification: The wind knocked on my window.
Metaphor: Her desk was a dumpster.
Hyperbole: There were a million people in line at McDonalds today.
Alliteration: She sells seas shells by the sea shore.
Science
Twisted Science excursion by Ali Alfraihi and Yusuf Sahin
On Friday 3rd November, grades 2, 5 and 6s went on an excursion to Twisted Science in Echuca. We participated in a workshop that explained how light works. We learnt many fun and interesting things that were related to what we were learning in class. For example, how a ray of light bends to create the illusion of a rainbow. We really like all the different activities that were there and everyone had a great time.
Just a friendly reminder to parents/guardians that homework needs be completed and handed in every Friday morning.
Kind Regards
Miss Funda Avan
